Cheat Sheet | How to Customize Our Face Mask to Your Skin Type

Masking is one of my favourite ways to take care of my skin, because my skin is left soft, smooth, and renewed. Our face mask is one of my weekly essentials–it's a clay based mask made with organic ingredients that works for all skin types and can be easily mixed with other ingredients to target your skin's needs.

NOURISHING

To give your skin a boost of nourishment, substitute our Face Toner for water. The organic ingredients, like rose water, witch hazel, and lavender, will give your skin a healthy dose of beneficial nutrients to help heal your skin. You'll be left with a healthy glow and refreshed skin.

Simply mix a small amount of our mask with toner to form a paste. With clean hands, apply the paste to your face and neck. Remove after ten to fifteen minutes. Follow with a moisturizer.

BRIGHTENING

A good brightening mask can go a long way in giving dull skin a boost. To give your mask a little brightening power, simply add a very small amount of turmeric to the dry clay before mixing with water. Turmeric may stain clothing and it could stain your skin, so I stick with 1/8 of a teaspoon to avoid staining. The turmeric will brighten and revive your skin, while our mask does it's thing to exfoliate and detox your skin.

DETOXIFYING

We all need a little skin detox now and then, so when you notice your pores are more clogged than usual, reach for activated charcoal. Like turmeric, this can stain your skin, so stick with 1/8 of a teaspoon.

Activated charcoal is really handy to keep around for medicinal uses and skincare recipes. It's often used to help our bodies remove toxins, and is especially handy for food poisoning. When it comes to skincare, adding a small amount helps to draw out the dirt and debris in our skin. This will help clear congested pores and allow our skin to begin the healing process.

MOISTURIZING

I have dry skin that's prone to blemishes. To handle both, I love using our mask with a hydration mask or even a face cream. The clay and chickpea flour in the mask help to detoxify my skin and heal acne, while the face cream deeply moisturizes my skin. Our Face + Body Cream is the perfect addition, but if your skin is craving something more, you could also add a drop of our Face Oil
