Behind The Drawings

What do cats on a tandem bike, a snake playing basketball, and a banana taking a shower have in common? They’re the drawings on our products and they’re all made by Jeff, co-founder (they/them).

We asked Jeff three questions about their drawing process.

Q

How do you come up with the characters for the drawings?

A

I've been obsessed with cats since Chester and Mochi (our cats) came into my life. They've been my muses and at the center of most of the drawings. The scenes are inspired by little moments that make me laugh. From the outside, I think some of the drawings can come off as strange, but it's the quirky details that make the drawings special to me.

Q

Pick a favorite drawing. Why?

A

The drawing on the Rosemary Avocado Shampoo Bar is my favorite because it still captures the personalities of Chester and Mochi for me. The easygoing cat gives the anxious one a ride on a tandem bike with friends. I've also had a long standing dream of owning a tandem bike one day.

Q

How do you want the drawings to make people feel when they interact with the products?

A

I just want people to feel a little joy when they see the drawings. There's a sequence to the things you experience when using our products. Before the essential oils reach your nose and the formulations touch your skin, you see our packaging. I like thinking about that little bit of joy living on our customer's shelves.

Bonus Q

Show us some drawings that never made it onto products!
